Welcome to CI-STEM!
SRI Education, in partnership with the University of North Texas, is conducting a research study, CI-STEM, to investigate continuous quality improvement (CQI) practices and STEAM afterschool programming. The 5-year study, which began in the summer of 2019, examines:
- The scope and impact of the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) policy, implemented by California’s Expanded Learning Division (EXLD) in California’s Department of Education (CDE)
- The scope and content of afterschool STEAM programming in the state’s more than 4,500 publicly funded afterschool sites
- The impacts of a cultural change effort, led by EXLD and the Center for Systems Awareness, on CQI and afterschool STEAM offerings within the afterschool network.
The study involves three research activities: 1) A study of the afterschool system and system dynamics 2) Surveys of site staff, site coordinators, and grant managers and 3) Case studies of select afterschool sites.
